The underground railroad was not actually a rail road. it was a bunch of routes a slave could take to go to the norh to be free.it helped alot of people escape to be free. A lady named Harriet Tubbam helpd over 300 people escape to be free. they took many different routes to be free the rail road had many check points for run away slaves to go to and stay for a night to rest up. Even some white people helped with the underground rail road. even thoe some was in the south they still helped out to lead them to freedom.the rail road was only used at night. for 10 to 20 miles between. the rail road helped free alot of slaves. if it wasnt for that then there would have been a less chance of slaves escaping to freedom.
Harreit Tubman.
Harriet tubman was a great lady and a caring person she was one of the main leaders of the underground rail roads and she helped free over 300 slaves. she started of helping her family. but she kept going back because she knew it was the right thing for her to do. she prayed all the time to keep her safe.as she kept helping slaves escape she wanted to help out more. she used all different ways to get away from their masters. they called her the mosses of her people. and she knew if she got caught she could be killed, whiped, or even hung.but she still helped becasue she knew slavery was rong and she knew that everbody deserves to be free and treated equal no matter what skin they are or have.
